This song is best when shared with friends and a little moonshine under the glittering night skies. I am so excited for you! This song has been very close to my heart. This one, is all of me and all of the things i hold dear to my heart.
You can now pre-save this on iTunes and Spotify, so when it comes out on the 29th, you’re ready to plug in our headphones and share it with a friend!
Yeap, that’s right. After a decade, they’re back to murder your feelings… and mine too, actually. I wouldn’t consider myself a die hard O&L fan, ’cause let’s face it, I’m technically too young to be one, though in a way, I am. But hey, I’ve peeped a little during their glory days back when i was still a little potato and i am happy to say that i know a song… or two. I do remember growing up seeing them on television and singing along to Yakap Sa Dilim and liking it a lot without realizing what it meant (Mom! Wrong channel!). Remember when CD’s were still a thing? My Dad made us a playlist of OPM songs my brother and I liked and a few of their songs were included in the list! (Sorry, piracy). BUT, You know what I don’t remember? Seeing myself perform for them.
When the official statement of their comeback flooded the internet, i freaked out. My first thought was, “I need to fly to Manila and see them perform.” But then, when my label asked me if i can fly to Manila to perform for them, I honestly freaked out more than the amount of times i said ‘freaked out’. “What am I gonna sing?”, “What am I gonna wear?” I did not think this through. All i was concerned about was that I was finally gonna see them live.
And so i did, and i enjoyed A LOT. The Strange Creatures and Blind Stereo Moon also performed! Everyone was singing along and the place was packed with people. I had to stand on a chair ’cause life’s kind of hard when you’re five foot two. I have appreciated more of their songs and most of them I’ve heard for the first time. I even have favorites now! I love Hey, Please!
And when i said it was packed here’s how the venue looked like:
I sang my version of Across The Universe by The Beatles and four of my original songs!
Ahehe. Feel na feel. Seriously though, I enjoyed my set.
Here’s me and this awesome dude Rolly whom I met during The Camerawalls Concert and he let me sabotage his uke! How cool is that! You don’t get to do that everyday.
What a night! Well I am hella glad they’re back! There is so much to look forward! I’m keeping my eyes and ears wide open. Nothing excites me more than new music!
After the TV Guesting at NET25, Antonette and I headed to headed to Ortigas for a radio guesting on Jam 88.3 for their Fresh Filter segment. Glad I made it to one of Ross’ show before he bids farewell to the Jam family!
We had a lovely exchange of conversation. We talked about musical influences, my humble beginnings, and I performed a few songs for everybody including my debut single Haven.
Here’s a photo of me and Russ Davis after the segment!
March was the highlight of my year or maybe it’s yet the highlight. I was blessed with so many activities, but most importantly, I met beautiful souls that made the experience more colorful than it already is. Dear reader, trust the timing of your life, whatever situation you are in right now, always be braver, and enjoy it while it lasts. Your dreams are waiting for you, please take the time to water yourself.
March 13, I had the privilege to do a live TV guesting at Net 25 for their noon time show Music & Letters. I played my own version of Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol and I played my debut single Haven. I talked a little about my music and myself, and answered to fan mails – very new for me but exciting, a little intimidating at first but warms you up easily. After the show, I did a quick guesting on their radio program with VJ Chad, this bubbly lady whom I enjoyed speaking Cebuano with! I played my favorite The Beatles song “Across The Universe” and of course, I sang Haven.
If you want to watch my awkward self, here’s the full video of my interview!
I also performed my debut single Haven on air!
And i sang my version of Snow Patrol’s Chasing Cars!
I spent the first week of my last 2016 Christmas in Manila. The smog welcomed me first, then the traffic. I liked it, too much of small-town-island-vibes I took for granted, I needed a pinch of chaos to remind me of what I was missing back home. And so I went on a journey to record my first single.
I recorded in Sonic State Audio Studio a day after I arrived. My label manager introduced me to the producer and the sound engineers, Sir Jon, Not and Brian. I enjoyed my time at the studio, although it took me the longest time to finish because I was very nervous and anxious when I shouldn’t be. They all made me feel welcomed and the place was relaxing enough, but I guess I was also excited at the same time.
Witnessing how everything works for the first time was an eye opener. I learned a lot, especially from my own mistakes. I learned to value time, importance of rehearsals, and how important it is to stay calm and just enjoy what you’re doing!
