I spent the first week of my last 2016 Christmas in Manila. The smog welcomed me first, then the traffic. I liked it, too much of small-town-island-vibes I took for granted, I needed a pinch of chaos to remind me of what I was missing back home. And so I went on a journey to record my first single.
I recorded in Sonic State Audio Studio a day after I arrived. My label manager introduced me to the producer and the sound engineers, Sir Jon, Not and Brian. I enjoyed my time at the studio, although it took me the longest time to finish because I was very nervous and anxious when I shouldn’t be. They all made me feel welcomed and the place was relaxing enough, but I guess I was also excited at the same time.
Witnessing how everything works for the first time was an eye opener. I learned a lot, especially from my own mistakes. I learned to value time, importance of rehearsals, and how important it is to stay calm and just enjoy what you’re doing!
Here are some sneak peaks while recording Haven!
